Our Coachella Valley just keeps growing! Maybe the Coachella Music Festival started it all… Maybe the word has just gotten out about what the rest of us already know. — This is a great place to live.
$300 MILLION FACILITY COMES TO COACHELLA
It has just been announced that the Coachella Valley is getting a $300 million dollar, multi-purpose facility called “The Shield.” The facility will be located on the property sitting between I10 and the Classic Club in Palm Desert.
THE SHIELD
The Shield, located at Coyote 1, will be a 12,000 seat facility aimed at bringing more sports tourism into the Coachella Valley. The Shield will have medical facilities, restaurants, a 120 room hotel and more. Football, soccer, boxing, MMA, local high school events and certainly some off-road motorsports will be hosted all year long in Palm Desert.
THE TEAM BEHIND COACHELLA VALLEY’S “THE SHIELD”
The Shield is designed by the same team behind the new Dallas Cowboys training facility in Frisco, Texas. The founder and director of the Coachella Sports and Entertainment Stadium Authority said, ” We’re going to kick down the door on sports tourism and bring it to the Coachella Valley where it belongs.” Sports tourism is a 13.5 billion dollar industry. Miller adds, “The Shield name comes from a Bible verse in Proverbs.” Our own KMIR has more on the story here
